LegCo releases Research Brief on "Measures to ease crowdedness of train compartments in overseas cities"

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     The Legislative Council Secretariat (the Secretariat) today (January 28) released a Research Brief on "Measures to ease crowdedness of train compartments in overseas cities".

     Crowdedness of train compartments during peak periods has been an area of concern for many large cities of the world, including Hong Kong. This Research Brief highlights the various transport management measures employed by the major cities in the world to deal with the issue of crowdedness in train compartments during peak hours and gives a more detailed account of the approach adopted by Singapore for reference.

     This is the fourth issue of the new publication produced by the Secretariat's Research Office of the Information Services Division with a view to enhancing information support for Members. It is a concise summary aiming at explaining a subject matter which may be of interest to Members and the general public. The subject of transport services falls within the policy areas of the Panel on Transport of the Legislative Council.
