Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Tsing Yi today (January 22) in which a 75-year-old man died.

     About 12 noon, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 30-year-old man reportedly knocked down the 75-year-old male pedestrian when it reversed outside a building on 38 Tsing Luk Street.

     The male pedestrian was trapped under the LGV and resuced by firemen. Sustaining serious head injuries, he was rushed to Yan Chai Hospital in unconscious state where he was certified dead at 12.54pm.

     The LGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South, are underway.
