Wounding case in Wan Chai reclassified as murder

     Police today (January 21) reclassified a wounding case happened in Wan Chai on January 12 as murder.

     At about 10.50pm on that day, Police received a report that a man, suspected to be attacked, was found collapsed outside 393 Lockhart Road. Police sped to scene and located a 58-year-old man lying unconscious on the ground.

     The injured man was rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital for medical treatment and was transferred to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where he was certified dead at 9pm today. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.

     Upon investigation, Police arrested a 26-year-old man in suspected connection with the case on January 19. Police laid a holding charge against him, and he will appear before Eastern Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (January 22).

     Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Wan Chai District are under way.
