Cross-strait four regions artistic exchange exhibition launched today (with photos)

     The exhibition of a cross-strait four regions artistic exchange project showcasing works of art by 16 artists from the Mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau opened today (January 18) at the Hong Kong City Hall.

     Launched in 2008 and now in its fifth edition, the cultural exchange programme is organised with the aim of fostering closer ties among the regions in the realm of contemporary art.

     The Under Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Florence Hui, officiated at today's opening ceremony of the exhibition, entitled "Crossroads·Another Dimension - A Cross-Strait Four Regions Artistic Exchange Project 2013". Other officiating guests included the Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sport and Tourism, Mr Qian Qiang; the Deputy Director of the He Xiangning Art Museum, Ms Le Zhengwei; the Art Director of the He Xiangning Art Museum and Chief Curator of the exhibition, Mr Feng Boyi; the Director of the Macao Museum of Art, Mr Chan Hou-seng; the Director of the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, Ms Beatrice Hsieh; and the Chief Curator of the Art Promotion Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Ms Lesley Lau.

     Carrying the central theme "Crossroads·Another Dimension", the touring exhibition was presented in the Mainland, Taiwan and Macau last year, and Hong Kong is the exhibition's final stop.

     The exhibition features paintings, art/video/sound/visual installations and new media works by artists from the four regions: Leung Chi-wo, Kingsley Ng, Kacey Wong and Samson Young from Hong Kong; Li Binyuan, Xu Bacheng, Xu Bing and Yin Xiuzhen from the Mainland, Konstantin Bessmertny, Bianca Lei, Peng Yun and Tong Chong from Macau; and Chen Po-i, Tsui Kuang-yu, Labay Eyong and Lee Ming-tse from Taiwan.

     The exhibition is organised by the He Xiangning Art Museum; the Macao Museum of Art; the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts; the art space at Oil Street, Oi!; and the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre. The curators are Ms Ivy Lin from Hong Kong, Mr Wang Dong from the Mainland, Mr Ng Fong-chao from Macau and Ms Iris Sie from Taiwan.

     Admission is free. The exhibition at the Hong Kong City Hall will run until February 13. Works by Hong Kong artists will be moved to Oi! for display from February 18 to March 12.
