FEHD orders two restaurants in Mong Kok and Yuen Long to suspend business
*********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Mong Kok and another in Yuen Long to suspend business for 15 and 14 days respectively from today (January 17) onwards, as the operators had repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR).

"The two restaurants are 'Sheung Hei Lam Moon', located on the ground floor at No. 31 Ki Lung Street in Mong Kok, and 'Pak Mei Heen', located at shop G on the ground floor of Lucky Mansion at No. 2 Chun Yin Square in Yuen Long," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

A total of six convictions for illegally extending the business area were recorded against "Sheung Hei Lam Moon" between April 2012 and last August. A total fine of $12,500 was levied by the court and 90 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the cancellation of the licence. The licensee lodged an appeal to the Licensing Appeals Board, which decided to suspend the licence for 15 days in place of cancellation of the licence. It was ordered to suspend business from today to January 31.

Regarding "Pak Mei Heen", two convictions for illegally extending the business area were recorded in last August and November. A total fine of $7,000 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension, running from today to January 30. The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for allowing staff to wash food utensils used in the service of food in open space and extending the business area illegally in July 2012 and last February. A total fine of $1,000 was levied and 15 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days last April.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
