Draft Pak Sha O Development Permission Area Plan approved
*********************************************************

The Chief Executive in Council has approved the draft Pak Sha O Development Permission Area (DPA) Plan.

"The approved DPA Plan provides guidance for planning and facilitates development control within the Pak Sha O area during the period required for detailed analysis of the land use pattern, study of infrastructural provisions and examination of development options for the formulation of an outline zoning plan (OZP)," a spokesman for the Town Planning Board said today (January 17).

The Pak Sha O area, covering an area of 33.27 hectares, is surrounded by Sai Kung West Country Park.

A spokesman for the Town Planning Board said the general planning intention of the area is to protect its high conservation and landscape value and the rural settings which complement the overall environment and landscape beauty of the surrounding Sai Kung West Country Park. The planning intention is also to reflect the existing recognised villages of Pak Sha O and Pak Sha O Ha Yeung.

About 1.38 hectares of the area is zoned "Village Type Development" to reflect the existing recognised villages.

The remaining 31.89 hectares of the area is designated "Unspecified Use" to give statutory protection to the area subject to further studies to establish appropriate land uses in the course of preparing an OZP.

The approved Pak Sha O DPA Plan No. DPA/NE-PSO/2 is now available for public inspection during office hours at the Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, the Planning Enquiry Counters of the Planning Department in North Point and Sha Tin, the Sha Tin, Tai Po and North District Planning Office, the Tai Po District Office and the Sai Kung North Rural Committee.

Copies of the approved plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the plan can be viewed on the Town Planning Board website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
