CE to visit Fujian

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will lead a delegation to visit Fujian from January 23 to 25. The delegation includes members of the Consultative Committee on Economic and Trade Co-operation between Hong Kong and the Mainland; Hong Kong members of the Standing Committee of the Fujian Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; representatives from the local industrial, commercial and professional sectors; and representatives of the Hong Kong Federation of Fujian Associations (the Federation).

     Through the Federation, the Government has also arranged for more than 10 Hong Kong students to join the visit to broaden their knowledge and horizons.

     Mr Leung will arrive in Fuzhou in the evening on January 23 and meet leaders of the Fujian Provincial Government. On the next day, Mr Leung will attend the Fujian-Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Meeting and tour the Fuzhou City Planning Exhibition Hall, the Fujian Liaison Unit of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and a local enterprise. He will also meet leaders of the Fuzhou Municipal Government and Hong Kong people who work, do business and study there to keep abreast of their living conditions.

     On January 25, Mr Leung will depart for Xiamen to visit a local enterprise and meet leaders of the Xiamen Municipal Government.

     The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam, will join the visit from January 23 to 24. Also included on the visit will be the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Edward Yau; the Director-General of Trade and Industry, Mr Kenneth Mak; the Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, Mr Carlson Chan; the Information Coordinator, Mr Andrew Fung; the Senior Special Assistant to the Chief Executive, Mr Chan Kin-ping; and the Assistant Director (Media), Mr Nick Au Yeung.

     The Chief Executive will depart for Fuzhou in the afternoon on January 23 and return to Hong Kong from Xiamen in the evening on January 25. During his absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will be the Acting Chief Executive.
