Lingnan Music Series to offer delightful variety of regional music programmes

     Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Lingnan Music Series offers performances featuring the music of China's Lingnan region from February to March.

     Performances include:

Hong Kong Chiuchow Music Ensemble-
A Concert of Chaozhou Gongs and Drums Da Luogu

February 16 (Sunday) 8pm
Theatre, Yau Ma Tei Theatre
Programme: Performed by the Hong Kong Chiuchow Music Ensemble, the programme includes the Chaozhou gongs and drums da luogu "Celebrating the Chinese New Year", the Chaozhou gongs and drums xiao luogu "Lions Playing with a Ball", the suona music "Butterflies among Flowers", the hengdi music "Going Up the Mansion", Chaozhou operatic singing and more.

Hong Kong Chiuchow Music Ensemble-
A Concert of Chaozhou Xianshi Ensemble Music

Programme: Performed by the Hong Kong Chiuchow Music Ensemble, the programme includes the Chaozhou music ensemble "Fish Hawks Dabbling in the Water", the Xianshi ensemble music "Two Heroes Crossing the River", "As the Waves Wash the Sand", Chaozhou operatic singing and more.

Programme: The musicians To Wing, Chan Kwok-fai, Ho Kang-ming, Yu Siu-wah, Chan Chi-chun and Lee King-chi with the Chaozhou music virtuosi Chu Chun-keung and Hui Chun-lit, together with the acclaimed Ng Wing-mui of nanyin fame and her protégé, Leung Hoi-lee, will take the audience back to the good old days with a variety musical instruments and traditional songs. The programme includes the Cantonese music ensemble "Autumn Moon over a Placid Lake", the Chaozhou music ensemble "The Moon on the West River", the Han music ensemble "Song of the West Chamber", the nanyin "Love's Yearning" and more. (Remarks: Lee King-chi will perform on March 7 only; Chan Kwok-fai will perform on March 8 only.)

Chaozhou Zheng Recital by Chen Anhua

Programme: Chen Anhua is the founder of the South China stylistic school of zheng music. The programme includes "Water Flowing Down a Spring Stream", "The Moon Rises High", "Wild Geese on the Sandbank", "Butterflies among Flowers" and more.
Tickets: $220, $150

Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).
