Fatal traffic accident in Castle Peak

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Castle Peak this morning (January 11) in which a 69-year-old man was killed.  

     At about 11.55am, a container truck driven by a 44-year-old man was travelling along Lung Fu Road towards Lung Kwu Tan. When approaching near 43 Lung Mun Road, it reportedly lost control, sideturned and rammed into the central divider. The container pressed on a container truck driven by a 69-year-old man which was travelling on the opposite lane.

     Both drivers were trapped inside the compartments and rescued by firemen. The 69-year-old driver was certified dead at the scene, while the 44-year-old driver sustained leg injuries and was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital in conscious state. He was arrested for dangerous driving causing death.

     Investigations by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are underway.
