About 4 400 vacancies on offer at North District Recruitment and Training Expo 2014

     The Labour Department, the Social Services, Labour and Economic Affairs Committee of the North District Council and the Hong Kong Youth Power Association will co-organise the North District Recruitment and Training Expo 2014 at Wo Hing Sports Centre in Fanling on January 10.

     A total of 65 organisations will participate in the Expo. Fifty-seven organisations, mainly from the retail, catering and property management industries, offering about 4 400 vacancies, will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment on the event day. Eight training and social services organisations will provide information on training courses and offer job counselling services to participants. A thematic talk on job hunting skills and construction industry skill demonstrations are scheduled for the afternoon.

     The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions such as network sales executive, library materials maintenance assistant, customer services associate, salesperson, cashier, shop assistant, cook, waiter/waitress, security guard, driver, storekeeper and others. Job seekers can find more information on the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).

     Around 73 per cent of the vacancies are full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $7,000 to $13,000. Over 96 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 73 per cent are open to job seekers who may lack relevant experience.

     Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. They can also register for employment services on the spot at the Labour Department's counter.

     The Expo will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at Wo Hing Sports Centre, No. 8 Wo Ming Lane, Fanling, New Territories (Next to Wah Ming Estate Bus Terminus). Admission is free.
