The spokesperson for Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Wong Tai Sin Hospital (WTSH) gave the following update today (January 7) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of Clostridium Difficile infections in a Tuberculosis & Chest ward:
One more male patient, aged 80, in the concerned ward presented with diarrhea symptoms. Appropriate tests were arranged for the patient and the test result was positive for the Clostridium Difficile toxin. The concerned patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition.
Infection control measures in the ward have been stepped up according to established guidelines. All patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
