Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yuen Long today (January 6) in which a 57-year-old woman died.
About 5.40pm, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 55-year-old man was travelling along Castle Peak Road towards Sheung Shui. When approaching near Fairview Park, it reportedly knocked down the 57-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
After the impact, the woman was trapped under the PLB and resuced by firemen. Sustaining serious chest injuries, she was rushed to Pok Oi Hospital in unconscious state where she was certified dead at 6.48pm.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
Investigations will be conducted by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North.
