DC chairmen and vice chairmen to visit Beijing and Tianjin

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, and a delegation of District Council (DC) chairmen and vice chairmen will leave Hong Kong for Beijing and Tianjin in the evening on January 9 (Thursday). They will return to Hong Kong on January 12 (Sunday).

     Thirty-six DC chairmen and vice chairmen will join the three-day visit. The Chairman of Tuen Mun District Council, Mr Lau Wong-fat, and the Chairman of Sai Kung District Council, Mr George Ng, will be the leader and deputy leader of the delegation respectively. The secretaries will be the Chairman of Wan Chai District Council, Mr Suen kai-cheong, and the Chairman of Yuen Long District Council, Mr Leung Che-cheung. The delegation will call on leaders and visit local communities and facilities in Beijing and Tianjin.

     Mr Tsang said that the District Councils are important partners of the Government in district administration and have been making great contributions in this area. The visit will enable the delegation to gain insights into communities and developments on the Mainland, which will be valuable to the District Councils in the discharge of their duties in district administration.

     The Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Pamela Tan, will also join the tour.
