The spokesperson for the United Christian Hospital (UCH) made the following announcement today (December 31):
Three paediatric female patients (aged 6 months to 1 year) in a Paediatric and Adolescent ward of UCH have presented with diarrhoea since December 27. Appropriate viral tests were arranged and the test results were positive for Rotavirus. The patients concerned are being treated under isolation and are in a stable condition.
Infection control measures on the ward have been stepped up according to established guidelines and restricted admission has been imposed. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
