Trial scheme extending Parking Certificate for Drivers Who Carry People with Mobility Disabilities continues
***********************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (December 31) announced that a trial scheme which extends the eligibility of applicants for the Parking Certificate for Drivers Who Carry People with Mobility Disabilities (Parking Certificate) will be extended to the end of March 2014.

Under the scheme the eligibility of applicants for a Parking Certificate is extended to cover designated drivers carrying passengers with mobility disabilities other than their own family members. Drivers holding the Parking Certificate can park their private cars at designated disabled parking spaces in government multi-storey car parks managed by the TD when carrying passengers with mobility disabilities. Eligible applicants can either be the designated driver carrying the person with mobility difficulties or the persons with mobility difficulties. In either case, the applicant should be the registered owner of the vehicle.

The TD will conduct a review of the arrangement upon satisfactory completion of the trial.

The application form and the "Notes to Help You" document are available on the TD Website (www.td.gov.hk/en/public_forms/td_forms/service_for_the_disabled/index.html).
