The spokesperson for Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Wong Tai Sin Hospital (WTSH) made the following announcement today (December 31):
Four female patients (aged 48 to 92) in a tuberculosis and chest ward have presented with diarrhea symptoms since December 9. Appropriate tests were arranged for the patients and the test results were positive for Clostridium Difficile toxin. The patients are being treated under isolation and are in a stable condition.
Infection control measures in the ward have already been stepped up according to established guidelines, including suspension of admission to the ward concerned and restricted visiting. All patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
