The Information Services Department (ISD) has today (December 31) launched iOS and Android applications for the online Government Bookstore.
The apps can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store or Google Play by searching for "Government Bookstore" or via the following links: itunes.apple.com/hk/app/government-bookstore/id739029987 (iPhone version), itunes.apple.com/hk/app/government-bookstore-ipad-version/id738979949 (iPad version) and play.google.com/store/apps/details?hl=en-us&id=hksarg.isd.sop.govbookstore (Android version).
The apps, available in Traditional Chinese and English, provide a new way for members of the public to browse the list of government publications for sale.
Publication search categories include Top Sellers, New Releases and Subscriptions.
Details such as title, price, release date and weight will be displayed on the screen. The covers and extracts of most publications can also be viewed.
Apart from being accessed through the App Store and Google Play, the apps can also be downloaded via the ISD website at www.isd.gov.hk or the Government portal at www.gov.hk.
Government publications can be bought at the ISD's Publications Sales Unit, Room 626, 6/F, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, Hong Kong. Orders can be made through the online Government Bookstore at www.bookstore.gov.hk, which can also be accessed via the ISD website, or by:
* calling the ISD's Publications Sales Unit on 2537 1910;
* downloading an order form from the ISD website and submitting the order online or by fax to 2523 7195; or
* emailing puborder@isd.gov.hk.
The bookstore includes a wide range of publications including the "Hong Kong 2012" yearbook, Laws of Hong Kong, the Government Gazette, technical manuals and general interest publications such as "The Birds of Hong Kong and South China", "Flora of Hong Kong Volumes 1-4", "The Hong Kong Marine Recreational Fishing Booklet" (Chinese only) and DVD on Physiotherapy Series - "Simplified Tai Chi Chuan - 24 Forms for Healthier Body and Mind".
