SJ speaks on constitutional reform consultation
***********************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Justice, Mr Rimsky Yuen, SC, today (December 29) after attending a youth symposium:

Reporter: How do you see the demonstration on January 1, claiming that Occupy Central will have a kind of podium to share the views on universal suffrage?

Secretary for Justice: In Hong Kong, people have the right to have lawful demonstrations. I would urge all people, whether they are participating in such kind of activities or they are the organisers of these activities, I hope that they would do it in accordance with the law instead of breaking the law. This is the most important message that I would like to convey. As to the messages that they want to bring out by participating or organising these activities, just like any other messages which we can gather from the community, we would certainly consider and take them into account when formulating our future policies.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
