Remand person in custody dies in public hospital

A remand person in custody in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre died in a public hospital this morning (December 24).
At about 5.07am today, correctional officers found the 60-year-old male remand person in custody unconscious in his cell and immediately sent him to a public hospital for treatment. He was certified dead at 5.39am.
The case has been reported to the Police. A death inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.
The remand person in custody was remanded for the offence of possession of a dangerous drug.
