Transcript of remarks by CE at media session in Beijing (with photos/video)
********************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, at a media session in Beijing today (December 17):

Reporter: Mr Leung, the Court of Final Appeal has ruled today that the Hong Kong social security rule was unconstitutional. So will Hong Kong social security system collapse or will there be any detrimental impact on Hong Kong financial situation? And the second question is: did any state leaders give you any specific instruction on how Hong Kong political reform should proceed?

Chief Executive: Well, I shouldn't say too much more than what the Secretary for Justice and Secretary for Labour and Welfare have already said in Hong Kong. I understand that they have given a rather detailed response to the judgment of the Court of Final Appeal on this case in Hong Kong.

On your second question, the instruction, if one wants to put it that way. The instruction that the Central Authorities have always given the Hong Kong Government in respect of the political reform, 2016 and 2017, is that the work has to be done within the framework of the Basic Law and the relevant decisions of the National People's Congress.
