The Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) published today (December 16) the December 2013 issue of the Hong Kong Monthly Digest of Statistics (HKMDS).
Apart from providing up-to-date statistics, this issue also contains two feature articles entitled "The Fertility Trend in Hong Kong, 1981 to 2012" and "Salary Statistics of Middle-level Managerial and Professional Employees, 2004 to 2013".
"The Fertility Trend in Hong Kong, 1981 to 2012"
Hong Kong's fertility showed a declining trend over the past 31 years. Nevertheless, there was a moderate re-bounce in fertility rate in the recent years. This feature article gives a brief account of the fertility trend in Hong Kong over the period from 1981 to 2012.

"Salary Statistics of Middle-level Managerial and Professional Employees, 2004 to 2013"
This feature article describes the movements of the salaries of middle-level managerial and professional employees in selected industry sections during the period from 2004 to 2013. Statistics of employees' entitlement to various kinds of fringe benefits are also presented.
During this period, the salary rate of middle-level managerial and professional employees increased by 2.7% per annum on average when measured by the Nominal Salary Index (A) and 4.1% when measured by the Nominal Salary Index (B).
