Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan this afternoon (December 13) in which a 59-year-old woman was killed.
At about 4.20pm, a minibus driven by a 42-year-old man reportedly knocked down the 59-year-old woman when reversing the minibus at a minibus stop on Ning Foo Street.
The woman was trapped under the minibus and was later rescued by firemen. Sustaining injuries to her head and body, the woman was rushed to Eastern Hospital in an unconscious state. She was certified dead at 4.45pm.
The minibus driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island, are underway.
