The Legislative Council (LegCo) Panel on Welfare Services conducted a site visit to the private residential care homes for the elderly in Shek Tsai Leng in Kwu Tung, Sheung Shui, today (December 13) to understand the needs and demands of the elderly affected by the North East New Territories Development Project.
Accompanied by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, members of the Panel visited Shek Tsai Leng Dills Corner Garden, residential care homes for the elderly situated within the North East New Territories development area. They attended a forum to listen to the views of the elderly on relocation and rehousing issues. Members then toured the care homes to get to know more about their living environment.
Panel members participating in the site visit included the Chairman of the Panel, Ms Chan Yuen-han, Mr Cheung Kwok-che, Mr Gary Fan, Mr Chan Han-pan, Mr Poon Siu-ping and Mr Tang Ka-piu.
