Theatre Ronin to stage literary music theatre based on works of three local writers
************************************************************

Theatre Ronin's latest play, "Memorandum: 10 Years. Han. Xiao", marks another innovative production following on from "P.E. Period 2.0". The play uses seven short stories selected from the works of three fiction writers - Hon Lai-chu's "The Biting Crowd", "A Chair" and "The Puppet"; Dorothy Tse's "Holidays" and "A Journey", and Lee Wai-yi's "Merry Christmas" and "Granny Red Flower" - to create a 10 year snapshot in the history of a city. Wielding its metaphorical tool with theatre as a "sword", Theatre Ronin transforms the written texts into literary music theatre, offering an evening of varied emotions in a new theatre experience blending live music, special stage effects and innovative performances.

The production team includes Tam Hung-man as director, adaptation playwright and production designer; Dung Kai-cheung as literary consultant; Chester Wong as composer, live musician and devising performer; Wong Man-ho and Chan Siu-tung as live musicians and devising performers; and Shirley Tsoi, Ng Fung-ming, Lianna Tse as devising performers.

Founded in 2006 by Tam Hung-man, who currently serves as Artistic Director, Theatre Ronin holds a one-year grant from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. The company is dedicated to creating theatre productions imbued with local cultural characteristics and is inspired by Hong Kong literature. Its repertory includes "The Mariana Trench" (which enjoyed a third run in Beijing in 2013 as well as a premiere and re-run in Hong Kong), "Legend of the Ocean: La La & the Litter Castle", "P.E. Period 2.0", "My P.E. Period", "Landscape in the Mist" (premiered in Hong Kong with a re-run in Beijing in 2012), "Searching for Da Vinci", "Wilderness of Soul" and "To Be Continued".
