Eighteen building plans approved in October

     The Buildings Department approved 18 building plans in October, with four on Hong Kong Island, one in Kowloon and 13 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, five were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, five were for commercial developments, three were for factory and industrial developments and five were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 19 building projects that, when completed, will provide 335 641 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 4 374 units, and 73 754 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 15 building projects.

     The department also issued 16 occupation permits, with six on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and eight in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 153 839 sq m, involving 2 945 units, and 67 839 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in October totalled about $6.2 billion.

     In addition, eight demolition consents involving eight building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 741 reports about unauthorised building works in October, and issued 1 142 removal orders on unauthorised works.
