Belgium's Originals opened its first bar in Hong Kong today (December 4), offering genuine Belgian food and beverages in the city. It is the first step in the company's plan to expand globally.
Belgium's Originals is located at Hillwood Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, alongside a range of neighbourhood bars and restaurants. The bar is a joint venture with a logistics partner that enables it to supply authentic Belgian beer direct from Belgian breweries.
The Operations Director of Belgium's Originals, Mr So Waedong, said that the city offers a convenient platform for the company's business to grow in the region.
"As we have a strong logistics company in Belgium as a partner, we have already fulfilled half of the requirements of running our business successfully. The other half is met by Hong Kong itself," Mr So said.
He continued, "Apart from strong demand, Hong Kong as an international business centre offers a platform where we can collect feedback from local and overseas customers so that we can adjust our products to better suit market needs. This will help us plan our next step of expansion in Asia." He added that the low and stable tax regime and a business-friendly environment are some of the other advantages Hong Kong has to offer.
The Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Andrew Davis, welcomed Belgium's Originals' first venture in Hong Kong and said, "Hong Kong's bar industry is highly competitive. To survive, newcomers need the kind of strong network and marketing strategy that Belgium's Originals has. I wish them luck and look forward to seeing them expand in Hong Kong and beyond."
