Limited Registration of non-local doctors approved
**************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) welcomed the decision of the Medical Council of Hong Kong (MCHK) today (December 4) to approve the applications for practice with limited registration of three non-local doctors who have applied to work in public hospitals under the HA.

According to a HA spokesman, the HA will proceed with the human resource procedures to arrange for the three doctors (Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine) to report for duty as early as possible.

"The MCHK also approved the renewal applications for practice with limited registration of four non-local doctors (two in Anaesthesia, one in Emergency Medicine and one in Internal Medicine) who will continue to help relieve frontline pressure in public hospitals for another one-year term," the spokesman said.

The HA advertised in late 2012 for the recruitment of non-local doctors under Limited Registration for the most pressurised specialties, namely Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Intensive Care Unit, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics and Psychiatry.

"To alleviate the pressure facing frontline doctors, the HA will continue with the local recruitment drives for full-time and part-time doctors in addition to the various measures to retain public doctors," said the spokesman.
