At the invitation of the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Mr Geoffrey Ma Tao-li, members of the Panel on Administration of Justice and Legal Services visited the Judiciary at the High Court Building this morning (December 3).
During the visit, members exchanged views with the Chief Justice and some judges on issues of wide public concern, such as the judicial manpower situation and the mechanism for handling complaints against judicial conduct. Members were also briefed by some of the judges on the preparatory work relating to the setting up of the Competition Tribunal; the work of the Working Party on Family Procedure Rules; and the proposed legislative amendments to the District Court Equal Opportunities Rules.
Members participating in the visit were the Chairman of the Panel, Dr Priscilla Leung; the Deputy Chairman of the Panel, Mr Dennis Kwok; members of the Panel, Ms Emily Lau, Mr Michael Tien, Dr Elizabeth Quat, Dr Chiang Lai-wan and Mr Chung Kwok-pan, as well as Dr Lam Tai-fai and Mr Ip Kin-yuen who are non-panel members.
