Fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei this morning (December 2) in which a 90-year-old woman was killed.

     About 10.40am, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 61-year-old man was traveling along Wing Sing Lane towards Nathan Road, while a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by another 61-year-old man was traveling along Temple Street towards Wing Sing Lane. When reaching the junction of Wing Sing Lane and Temple Street, the PLB reportedly collided with the LGV and hit a 61-year-old male pedestrian. The two vehicles then lost control and rammed onto the pavement and knocked down the 90-year-old female pedestrian.
     The woman was trapped under the LGV and was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital in unconscious state after being rescued by firemen. She was certified dead at 11.10am. The PLB driver and his 54-year-old male passenger, as well as the 61-year-old male pedestrian, were also rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West, are underway.
