STH to lead maritime delegation to Shanghai

     The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, will lead a Hong Kong maritime delegation to Shanghai tomorrow (December 2) to attend Marintec China 2013 and promote Hong Kong's maritime services.
 
     The 17-member delegation comprises members of the Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council and the Hong Kong Port Development Council.

     The delegation will visit Shanghai Maritime University, Waigaoqiao Port District and the Shanghai Free Trade Zone. They will then attend the grand opening of Marintec China 2013 and officiate at the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Pavilion at the event.
 
     The Hong Kong Pavilion has been set up by the Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council in collaboration with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Marine Department to promote Hong Kong's strong maritime cluster. At the pavilion, nine Hong Kong exhibitors will showcase advanced navigation and communications equipment as well as support services such as weather routing, ship repair, marine asset tracking and fleet management.

     Marintec China is a biennial international shipping and maritime trade fair held in Shanghai. This year's fair runs from December 3 to 6.

     Professor Cheung will also take the opportunity to visit the Hongqiao Comprehensive Transportation Hub, the Shanghai Municipal Transport Information Centre and the Pudong Sanlin indemnificatory housing area, and will exchange views with the relevant municipal officials. He will also attend a dinner reception organised by alumni associations of Hong Kong universities in Shanghai.

     He will depart for Hong Kong on Wednesday afternoon (December 4).
