Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration and the Chairman of the Steering Committee on Population Policy, Mrs Carrie Lam, at a media session after attending the public forum on population policy this afternoon (November 30):

Reporter: Mrs Lam......on the population consultation?

Chief Secretary for Administration and Chairman of the Steering Committee on Population Policy: We have just finished a second district forum on the public consultation on our population policy. At this particular forum, I think that we have heard loud and clear that if we wanted to release women labour force, we have to really provide improved services to help these women particularly looking after their children whether in terms of day care or day nursery or after-school care. And I want to assure them that these are the areas that we have been looking into and in fact there have been several programmes whether they are school-based programmes or district-based programmes run by the Education Bureau, run by the Social Welfare Department and also the Community Care Fund. So we will build on those foundations and try to enhance the services.
