*********************************************************

Teachers and parents from over 100 schools today (November 30) participated in the launch ceremony of the "Home-school Co-operation in Building an Inclusive School Culture" Award Scheme held by the Education Bureau (EDB).

The award scheme is one of a series of activities organised by the EDB to promote Integrated Education in the 2013/14 school year. It aims to promote inclusive school culture through commendation to families that provide appropriate support for their children with special educational needs (SEN), as well as families or parent teams that actively co-operate with schools in implementing inclusive policies and practices.

Today's ceremony featured the sharing by parents and students of their harmonious relationship and a talent show by students with SEN. The activity enhanced participants' understanding of the concept and practice of inclusion, and enabled them to appreciate the excellent performances of the SEN students.

The award scheme is co-organised by the Equal Opportunities Commission, the Subsidised Primary Schools Council, the Union of Government Primary School Headmasters and Headmistresses, the Hong Kong Subsidised Secondary Schools Council, the Association of Principals of Government Secondary Schools, the Hong Kong Special Schools Council and the Committee on Home-School Co-operation.

The Award Scheme covers the primary school, secondary school and special school sections and nominations by schools has commenced. Details of the Award Scheme are available on the EDB website (Chinese version only): www.edb.gov.hk/tc/edu-system/special/support/wsa/primary/incl-sch-award.html.
