The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) today (November 29) appealed to people of the O positive and A positive blood groups to come forward as early as possible to donate blood. The BTS spokesman said, "In view of the cold weather and the fact that the number of blood donations has noticeably dropped recently, the supply of blood to patients could be falling short. To ensure adequate blood supply for the treatment of patients in hospitals, the BTS needs an extra 100 donors each of O positive and A positive blood in the coming weeks to replenish inventories."
