Force continues to deliver better service to the public (with photos)
********************************************************

The Force constantly reviewed and improved its work procedures, upgraded the equipment and enhanced professional training with a view to delivering quality service to the public, the Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Mr Nicholas Ng, said today (November 23) when inspecting a passing-out parade of the Hong Kong Police College.

Same as the Public Service Commission, Mr Ng said the Force adhered to the principles of fairness and meritocracy in the appointment and promotion of the disciplined staff. Besides, a comprehensive human resource management framework was also put in place to allow staff to develop their potential to tie in with the development of the organisation.

He noted that being highly professional, efficient and well trained, the Force was committed to containing the crime rate at a low level and ensuring that Hong Kong continued to be one of the safest cities in the world. The superb performance, which was attributable to the unfailing efforts and devotion of the Force members, won the recognition and support of the public, he added.

He said that the increasing complexity in the social environment and the rising publicˇ¦s demands and expectations had brought greater challenges and pressure to frontline officers. He encouraged the graduates to put the professional knowledge and skills they had learned from the training to good use.

ˇ§In enforcing the law, observe the principles of fairness, impartiality and objectivity. In face of difficulties, show your perseverance and courage. When temptation comes, stand firm to your values and uphold your professional ethics,ˇ¨ he said.

In his concluding remarks, he hoped the graduates would regard the Force career as a life-long one through which they would pursue their goals and aspirations, and contribute to the stability of Hong Kong.

A total of 40 probationary inspectors and 206 recruit constables passed out today.
