Transcript of remarks by SCED on outcomes of domestic free television programme service licence applications
***********************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, to the media after attending the 7th Mainland-Hong Kong Services Industry Symposium today (November 20):

Reporter: Mr So, has the Government contacted the Consultant recently because apparently ... to follow up on that issue. Has the Government contacted them yet?

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: Thank you for your question. As I indicated yesterday, the decision by the Chief Executive (CE) in Council has been made after taking into consideration all the relevant factors. The decision has been made. This decision was made having taken into consideration the content of the Consultant's Report along with other representations and up-to-date market information. Therefore, I think the decision was made appropriately with the latest information presented to the CE in Council. And the Consultant's Report was only one of the information and relevant factors considered by the Executive Council along with other factors.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
