Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi this afternoon (November 19) in which a 52-year-old man was killed.

     At about 6.10pm, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 59-year-old man was travelling inside Container Terminal 6.  When approaching near a rubber tyred gantry crane, three containers were reportedly knocked down by the spreader of the gantry and pressed on the LGV.

     A 52-year-old male passenger on the LGV was trapped inside the compartment and was certified dead at the scene after being rescued by firemen.  The 59-year-old driver sustained head and hand injuries and was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South, are underway.
