Rising stars of Cantonese opera from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau to perform in December

     Promising young Cantonese opera performers from the Greater Pearl River Delta region will gather for a performance titled "A Showcase of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Cantonese Opera New Stars". Featuring excerpts from various well-known classics, the performance will take place at 7.30pm on December 29 (Sunday) at the Auditorium of Shatin Town Hall. Details are as follows:

Guangdong Cantonese Opera Theatre Youth Troupe
"The Revolt" from "Huang Feihu's Rebellion", "Committing Suicide" from "The Story of the Wooden Hairpin" and "Vengeance at the Lion Pavilion"
Main Cast: Zeng Xiaomin, Peng Qinghua, Wang Yanfei, Wen Ruqing, Zhu Hongxing, Gong Jieying

Hong Kong Young Talent Cantonese Opera Troupe
"Saving Pei" from "The Reincarnation of a Beauty"
Main Cast: Lam Tin-yau, Cheng Nga-ki, Lam Tsz-ching

Macao Kaifong Cantonese Opera Juvenile Troupe
"Lady Yu Inspecting the Camp Ground", "Hongxian Steals the Box", "The Phantom Union" and "Three Duels Against the Skeleton Demon"
Main Cast: Chan Ian Hei, Chan Ka Ieng, Mak Hio Iao, Chong U Chak, Tong Chi Wa, Cheong Sut Ian, Mok On Ieng, Cheong Ka Ieng

     "A Showcase of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Cantonese Opera New Stars" is a Greater Pearl River Delta Cultural Cooperation Project which is presented by the Department of Culture of Guangdong Province, the Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Tickets priced at $100, $160, $220 and $260 are now available at URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by telephone credit card booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for full-time students and CSSA recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis.)
