Special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements tomorrow (November 16) and on November 17 to facilitate the holding of two events on Hong Kong Island.

     The following traffic arrangements will be implemented to facilitate the holding of an event in Causeway Bay:

A. Road closure

     The following roads will be intermittently closed between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on November 16:

- Hysan Avenue;
- Yun Ping Road;
- Kai Chiu Road; and
- Lee Garden Road.

     The following roads will be closed from 2.30pm onwards on November 17 until the road closure is lifted:

- Great George Street;
- Westbound Kingston Street; and
- Paterson Street between Kingston Street and Great George Street.

     If necessary, the following roads may be closed from 2.30pm onwards on November 17:

- Sugar Street;
- Cleveland Street;
- Eastbound Kingston Street;
- Paterson Street between Gloucester Road and Kingston Street;
- Northbound Gloucester Road between Causeway Road and Gloucester Road service road;
- U-turn slip road between southbound Gloucester Road and northbound Gloucester Road;
- Southbound Gloucester Road between Causeway Road and Gloucester Road service road; and
- Southbound Tai Hang Road flyover.

B. Traffic diversion

     The following traffic diversion will be implemented from 2.30pm onwards on November 17 until the road closure is lifted:

- Traffic along southbound Cleveland Street cannot turn right to westbound Kingston Street;
- Traffic along southbound Paterson Street must turn left to eastbound Kingston Street; and
- Traffic along northbound Gloucester Road cannot turn left to westbound Kingston Street.

     If necessary, the following traffic diversions may be implemented:

- Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street cannot turn left to Sugar Street;
- Traffic along westbound Gloucester Road service road cannot turn left to Cleveland Street;
- Traffic along westbound Gloucester Road service road cannot turn left to southbound Paterson Street;
- Traffic along eastbound Victoria Park Road flyover heading for Tai Hang will be diverted via eastbound Victoria Park Road, Wing Hing Street, Kingˇ¦s Road and Tung Lo Wan Road; and
- Traffic along southbound Victoria Park Road flyover must turn right to westbound Gloucester Road service road.

     All car parks within the road closure area will be suspended from 2.30pm until the crowd has dispersed and the road closure is lifted. Vehicles will not be permitted to leave or access these car parks.

     The following traffic arrangements will be implemented on November 17 to facilitate the holding of an event in Western District:

A. Road closure

- Queen's Road West between Belcher's Street and Praya, Kennedy Town will be closed between 9am and 5.30pm;
- Queen's Road West between Hill Road and Belcherˇ¦s Street will be closed between 1.30pm and 5pm;
- Belcher's Street between Queen's Road West and Collinson Street will be closed between 1.30pm and 5pm; and
- Hill Road between Queen's Road West and Pok Fu Lam Road will be closed between 2.45pm and 3.30pm.

B. Traffic diversion

- Traffic along Queen's Road West heading for Praya, Kennedy Town must turn left to Belcher's Street between 9am and 1.30pm;
- Traffic along Queen's Road West east of Hill Road must turn right to Hill Road between 1.30pm and 5pm;
- Traffic along Queen's Road West or Hill Road heading for Kennedy Town will be diverted to travel via northbound Hill Road, westbound Des Voeux Road West and westbound Praya, Kennedy Town between 1.30pm and 5pm; and
- Traffic along westbound Bonham Road and westbound Pok Fu Lam Road heading for Hill Road must turn right to Third Street between 2.45pm and 3.30pm.

     All metered parking spaces and motorcycle parking spaces on Hill Road will be suspended between 11am and 5pm.

     Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangements specified above would be towed away without prior notice.

     Actual implementation of special traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic conditions in the areas. Motorists are advised to drive with care and patience and follow the instruction of the Police at scene.
