Fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei today (November 11) in which an 89-year-old woman died.

     About 5.20pm, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 35-year-old man was travelling along the east bound of Dundas Street. When passing the junction of Dundas Street and Canton Street, it reportedly knocked down the 89-year-old woman who was crossing the road.

     The woman was trapped under the HGV and was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital in unconscious state after being rescued by firemen. She was certified dead at 6.22pm.

     The HGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West, are underway.
