Speech by FS at Shun Hing Group 60th Anniversary Cocktail Reception (English only) (with photos/video)
**********************************************************

Following is the speech by the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, at the Shun Hing Group 60th Anniversary Cocktail Reception:

David (Mr David Mong, Vice Chairman of Shun Hing Group), Your Excellency, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,

     Good afternoon.

It's my great pleasure to join you all today in celebrating the Shun Hing Group's 60th anniversary.

Through the vision of its founder, Dr William Mong, an old dear friend, and his deep appreciation of Japanese culture and innovation, the Shun Hing Group has been helping to improve the living standard of the Hong Kong people since 1953.

Over the past six decades, Shun Hing has become a trusted partner of our community, which is known for its eagerness to try out the latest technological solutions for work and for pleasure, at home and in the office.

I was interested to learn that, as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations, Shun Hing has conducted an online vote for "The Most Liked Classic Product".

There is actually an endless range of products to choose from, from camcorders and radios to pagers and TVs, and much more. It should not be a surprise to anyone that respondents chose a well-known brand of rice cooker as the most "liked" classic product. Indeed, the Panasonic rice cooker has totally changed the way Hong Kong people have been able to manage their domestic living since it became a must-have product for all families.

In our highly competitive business environment, I have no doubt that Shun Hing's success is due, not only to fostering customer loyalty, but also to its diligence in forging trust and co-operation with its suppliers. This trust and co-operation is highlighted by the presence here today of some of the biggest names in electrical appliances and other fields that  also represent the Group¡¦s diversity.

The Shun Hing Group has also long demonstrated good corporate social responsibility. The Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund established by Dr William Mong in 1984 has supported numerous meaningful initiatives in Hong Kong and in the Mainland. The Fund has bestowed grants to improve campus facilities such as academic buildings, research institutes, activity centres and libraries in many of our tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, the Mainland and overseas.

On this special occasion, I would like to express my gratitude to the Shun Hing Group for its many contributions to our community.

I wish the Shun Hing Group a memorable 60th anniversary and a prosperous future.

     Thank you very much.
