Temporary traffic arrangements for tram track renewal work in Causeway Bay from tomorrow

     The Transport Department (TD) today (November 6) reminded the public that the temporary traffic arrangements to facilitate tram track renewal work would be implemented in Causeway Bay from 9am tomorrow (November 7) to 10am next Wednesday (November 13).

     The temporary traffic arrangements will mainly include:

* The middle lane of Percival Street from its junction with Russell Street to a point about 20 metres south of the same junction will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic except trams.

* Vehicles exceeding eight metres in length on Matheson Street northbound will be prohibited from making right turn onto Percival Street southbound.

* Vehicles on Matheson Street northbound heading for Leighton Road eastbound will be diverted via Russell Street westbound and Canal Road East southbound.

* The bus only lane in Percival Street will be cancelled.

* The taxi pick up/drop off point near No. 56-60 Percival Street will be temporarily suspended.

     Appropriate traffic signs and road markings will be erected on site to guide motorists.

     Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.

     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. The public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
