Police operation against illegal road racing

     Police conducted a territory-wide operation on November 1 and 2 to combat illegal road racing activities.

     During the operation, Police arrested five people for dangerous driving. Twenty-seven vehicles were detained for examination. Forty-seven summonses and 787 Fixed Penalty Tickets were issued for various traffic offences.

     Police also breath-tested 1,810 drivers during the operation. Among them, fourteen drivers unable to pass the screening breath tests were arrested. Eleven of them, found to have proportions of alcohol in their breath exceeding the prescribed limit, will be charged with the offence.

     Police remind motorists not to participate in illegal road racing activities and not to drive after consuming alcohol. Offenders will be liable to a fine, imprisonment and disqualification of their driving licences upon conviction.
