First-day auction results for Victoria Park Lunar New Year Fair stalls

     A total of 180 wet goods stalls and three fast food stalls were successfully let in an auction for stalls at the 2014 Victoria Park Lunar New Year Fair starting today (November 4).

     Over 560 people attended the auction at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wan Chai from 9am to 6.45pm today, a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

     The average bid price for the wet goods stalls was $18,408, with the successful bids ranging from $9,190 to $60,000. The highest bid of $60,000 was almost six times the opening price of $9,190.

     The auction of wet goods stalls fetched a total of $3,313,500, compared with $2,749,250 last year.

     For the fast food stalls, the 7.6 x 4.8 metre stall was bid at $540,000, against an opening price of $317,020. The winning bids for the two 5 x 4 metre stalls were both at the opening price of $169,810.

     The auction for the eight thematic dry goods stalls and 284 dry goods stalls will be held at 9am tomorrow (November 5) and on Wednesday (November 6) at the same venue.
