FS arrives in Beijing for visit (with photos)

     The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, arrived in Beijing today (November 4) to start his three-day visit programme. Joining Mr Tsang on the visit are the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, and the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Mr Norman Chan.

     Shortly after their arrival, Mr Tsang met with the Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Mr Xiao Gang, and the Governor of the People's Bank of China, Mr Zhou Xiaochuan, separately. Mr Tsang expressed his appreciation to both the China Securities Regulatory Commission and the People's Bank of China for their continued support to Hong Kong, which has helped Hong Kong to further its development as an offshore Renminbi business centre. They also exchanged views on promoting various financial co-operation agendas.

     Tomorrow (November 5), Mr Tsang will continue to meet with officials of relevant Central Government bodies, including the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, to discuss issues of mutual concern.
