Hongkong Post today (November 4) announced that a set of special stamps entitled "Innovation and Technology" will be released for sale with associated philatelic products on November 19 (Tuesday).

In recent years, the Government has devoted much effort to promoting the development of the innovation and technology industry, encouraging enterprises to establish long-term partnerships with research institutions so as to enhance their competitiveness, and developing Hong Kong into a regional hub for innovation and technology. Hongkong Post is issuing a set of special stamps with the theme of "Innovation and Technology", featuring six areas of innovation and technology in Hong Kong, namely green technology, information and communications technology, Chinese medicine, biotechnology, nano and advanced materials and radio frequency identification (RFID), to promote the culture of technological innovation to the public.

This is the first set of stamps to be issued by Hongkong Post using photochromic ink. The terms "GREEN", "NANO" and "RFID", as well as illustrations of corn on the cob, ginseng and communications devices, on the stamps will gradually change colour when exposed to sunlight or ultraviolet light. The novel and unique designs exemplify the "Innovation and Technology" theme.

Official First Day Covers will be on sale at $1.2 each at all post offices from tomorrow (November 5). The stamps and associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office, Sha Tin Central Post Office and Tuen Mun Central Post Office from the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from tomorrow to November 11.
