FEHD orders food factory in Tsuen Wan to suspend business for two weeks
**********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a food factory in Tsuen Wan to suspend business for 14 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by illegally extending the business area.

The food factory, located at Shop 17, Plot A, Wealthy Shopping Arcade, No. 14 Tsuen Kwai Street, Tsuen Wan Town Lot 252, was ordered to suspend business from today (November 3) to November 16.

"In October last year and September this year, two convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $1,750 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for the same offence in April and August last year. A total fine of $1,750 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days last September.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
