FEHD cancels licence of Sha Tin light refreshment restaurant
************************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene cancelled the licence of a light refreshment restaurant in Sha Tin today (November 1).

The operator of the restaurant, located at shop No. 9 of Chuen Fai Centre at 9-11 Kong Pui Street in Shatin Wai, repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the business area.

"In May and June last year, four convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $1,140 was levied by the court and 90 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the cancellation of the licence," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for the same offence in February and March last year. A total fine of $390 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days this February.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
