Post-office appointment for Mr Henry Ho Kin-chung
*************************************************

The Advisory Committee on Post-office Employment for Former Chief Executives and Politically Appointed Officials has advised on the proposed appointment of former Political Assistant to Secretary for Development, Mr Henry Ho Kin-chung, after leaving the Government in August. Mr Ho proposed to accept an unpaid appointment as a visiting scholar of Tsinghua University for one year.

The Advisory Committee considers that, subject to observance of certain advice it has given, the proposed appointment of Mr Ho would not cause any potential conflict of interest. The Advisory Committee also does not anticipate adverse public reaction or public perception problems arising from the proposed appointment.

In considering each case, the Advisory Committee has regard to the information provided by the former politically appointed official concerned, the assessments by relevant government bureaux or offices, and the criteria for advice as stipulated in the guidance notes on post-office employment for politically appointed officials.

Details of the case above are available at the Advisory Committee's website (www.ceo.gov.hk/poo/eng/index.htm).

The membership of the Advisory Committee is as follows:

Dr Moses Cheng Mo-chi (Chairman)
Mr Tim Lui Tim-leung
Professor Liu Pak-wai
Ms Teresa Cheng Yeuk-wah
Ms Elaine Lo Yuen-man
