FEHD orders restaurant in Sha Tin to suspend business for two weeks
**********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Sha Tin to suspend business for 14 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by illegally extending the business area.

The restaurant, located on the ground floor at 157 Ha Keng Hau Village, was ordered to suspend business from today (October 30) to November 12.

"In July and August this year, two convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $1,600 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for the same offence in July last year and this May. A total fine of $2,080 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days in August this year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
