The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (October 30) that a number of the LCSD's swimming pools throughout the territory will provide heated swimming facilities for public use during winter to allow more people to continue to exercise and enjoy the fun of swimming.
Details of the opening arrangements of the LCSD's heated swimming pools in winter are as follows:
(A) Opening arrangements for 20 pools which provide heated swimming facilities:

(B) Four pools with heated swimming facilities will be closed during certain periods in winter for annual maintenance. Their opening periods are as follows:

Shing Mun Valley Swimming Pool will be closed for improvement works and annual maintenance tentatively from mid-December 2013 to mid-May 2014 (the exact closure dates will be announced in due course).
(C) The weekly cleaning operation will be held as usual in these pools during their opening periods. The cleaning will start at 10am and finish at around 5pm to 6pm on the same day. The schedule is as follows:

Meanwhile, from November 1 to 30, two public swimming pools without heated swimming facilities, namely Kennedy Town Swimming Pool and Kowloon Tsai Swimming Pool, will open from 6.30am to noon daily.
The LCSD urges swimmers to keep public pools clean and hygienic. If swimmers feel unwell, they should not swim. They are advised to use the toilet before swimming and not to urinate or defecate in the pools. Before entering the pool deck, swimmers should shower in the changing room, and walk through the shower bath and footbath.
